General Description
The LM22670 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits which provide all of the active functions for a stepdown (buck) switching regulator capable of driving up to 3A loads with excellent line and load regulation characteristics. High efficiency (>90%) is obtained through the use of a low ON-resistance N-channel MOSFET. The series consists of a fixed 5V output and an adjustable version.
The SIMPLE SWITCHER® concept provides for an easy to use complete design using a minimum number of external components and National’s WEBENCH® design tool. National’s WEBENCH® tool includes features such as external component calculation, electrical simulation, thermal simulation, and Build-It boards for easy design-in. The switching clock frequency is provided by an internal fixed frequency oscillator which operates at 500 kHz. The switching frequency can also be adjusted with an external resistor or synchronized to an external clock up to 1MHz. It is also possible to selfsynchronize multiple regulators to share the same switching frequency. The LM22670 series also has built in thermal shutdown, current limiting and an enable control input that can power down the regulator to a low 25 μA quiescent current standby condition.

Description
TinySwitch-II integrates a 700 V power MOSFET, oscillator, high voltage switched current source, current limit and thermal shutdown circuitry onto a monolithic device. The start-up and operating power are derived directly from the voltage on the DRAIN pin, eliminating the need for a bias winding and associated circuitry. In addition, the TinySwitch-II devices incorporate auto-restart, line under-voltage sense, and frequency jittering.
An innovative design minimizes audio frequency components in the simple ON/OFF control scheme to practically eliminate audible noise with standard taped/varnished transformer construction. The fully integrated auto-restart circuit safely limits output power during fault conditions such as output short circuit or open loop, reducing component count and secondary feedback circuitry cost. An optional line sense resistor externally programs a line under-voltage threshold, which eliminates power down glitches caused by the slow discharge of input storage capacitors present in applications such as standby supplies. The operating frequency of 132 kHz is jittered to significantly reduce both the quasi-peak and average EMI, minimizing filtering cost.

Description
TOPSwitch-GX uses the same proven topology as TOPSwitch, cost effectively integrating the high voltage power MOSFET,
PWM control, fault protection and other control circuitry onto a single CMOS chip. Many new functions are integrated to reduce system cost and improve design flexibility, performance
and energy efficiency.
Depending on package type, the TOPSwitch-GX family has either 1 or 3 additional pins over the standard DRAIN, SOURCE and CONTROL terminals. allowing the following functions:
line sensing (OV/UV, line feedforward/DC max reduction), accurate externally set current limit, remote on/off, and synchronization to an external lower frequency and frequency selection (132 kHz/66 kHz).
All package types provide the following transparent features: Soft-start, 132 kHz switching frequency (automatically reduced at light load), frequency jittering for lower EMI, wider DCMAX,

The LM2576 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits ideally suited for easy and convenient design of a step–down switching regulator (buck converter). All circuits of this series are capable of driving a 3.0 A load with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3 V, 5.0 V, 12 V, 15 V, and an adjustable output version. These regulators were designed to minimize the number of external components to simplify the power supply design. Standard series of inductors optimized for use with the LM2576 are offered by several different inductor manufacturers. Since the LM2576 converter is a switch–mode power supply, its efficiency is significantly higher in comparison with popular three–terminal linear regulators, especially with higher input voltages. In many cases, the power dissipated is so low that no heatsink is required or its size could be reduced dramatically. A standard series of inductors optimized for use with the LM2576 are available from several different manufacturers. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switch–mode power supplies. General Description
The LM2672 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits built with a LMDMOS process. These regulators provide all the active functions for a step-down (buck) switching regulator, capable of driving a 1A load current with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 5.0V, 12V, and an adjustable output version.
Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use and include patented internal frequency compensation (Patent Nos. 5,382,918 and 5,514,947), fixed frequency oscillator, external shutdown, soft-start, and frequency synchronization.
The LM2672 series operates at a switching frequency of 260 kHz, thus allowing smaller sized filter components than what would be needed with lower frequency switching regulators.
Because of its very high efficiency (>90%), the copper traces on the printed circuit board are the only heat sinking needed.
A family of standard inductors for use with the LM2672 are available from several different manufacturers. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switch-mode power supplies using these advanced ICs. Also included in the datasheet are selector guides for diodes and capacitors designed to work in switch-mode power supplies.
Other features include a guaranteed ±1.5% tolerance on output voltage within specified input voltages and output load conditions, and ±10% on the oscillator frequency. External shutdown is included, featuring typically 50 µA stand-by current. The output switch includes current limiting, as well as thermal shutdown for full protection under fault conditions.
