Description
This series of fixed negative-voltage integrated-circuit voltage regulators is designed for a wide range of applications. These include on-card regulation for elimination of noise and distribution problems associated with single-point regulation. In addition, they can be used to control series pass elements to make high-current voltage-regulator circuits. One of these regulators can deliver up to 100 mA of output current. The internal current-limiting and thermal-shutdown features essentially make the regulators immune to overload. When used as a replacement
for a Zener-diode and resistor combination, these devices can provide an effective improvement in output impedance of two orders of magnitude, with lower bias current.

DESCRIPTION
The L7900 series of three-terminal negative regulators is available in TO-220, ISOWATT220
TO-3 and D2PAK packages and several fixed output voltages, making it useful in a wide range
of applications.These regulators can provide local on-card regulation, eliminating the distribution problems associated with single point regulation; furthermore, having the same voltage option as the L7800 positive standard series, they are particularly suited for split power supplies. In addition, the -5.2V is also available for ECL system. If adequate heat sinking is provided, they can deliver over 1.5A output current.
Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with
external components to obtain adjustable voltages and currents.

The LM2575 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits ideally suited for easy and convenient design of a step–down switching regulator (buck converter). All circuits of this series are capable of driving a 1.0 A load with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3 V, 5.0 V, 12 V, 15 V, and an adjustable output version.
These regulators were designed to minimize the number of external components to simplify the power supply design. Standard series of inductors optimised for use with the LM2575 are offered by several different inductor manufacturers.
Since the LM2575 converter is a switch–mode power supply, its efficiency is significantly higher in comparison with popular three–terminal linear regulators, especially with higher input voltages. In many cases, the power dissipated by the LM2575 regulator is so low, that no heatsink is required or its size could be reduced dramatically.
The LM2575 features include a guaranteed ±4% tolerance on output voltage within specified input voltages and output load conditions, and ±10% on the oscillator frequency (±2% over 0°C to 125°C). External shutdown is included, featuring 80 mA typical standby current. The output switch includes cycle–by–cycle current limiting, as well as thermal shutdown for full protection under fault conditions.

General Description
The LM1117 is a series of low dropout voltage regulators with a dropout of 1.2V at 800mA of load current. It has the same pin-out as National Semiconductor’s industry standard LM317.
The LM1117 is available in an adjustable version, which can set the output voltage from 1.25V to 13.8V with only two external resistors. In addition, it is also available in five fixed voltages, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.85V, 3.3V, and 5V.
The LM1117 offers current limiting and thermal shutdown. Its circuit includes a zener trimmed bandgap reference to assure output voltage accuracy to within ±1%.
The LM1117 series is available in LLP, TO-263, SOT-223, TO-220, and TO-252 D-PAK packages. A minimum of 10µF tantalum capacitor is required at the output to improve the
transient response and stability.

Description
The LM117 series of adjustable 3-terminal positive voltage regulators is capable of supplying in excess of 1.5A over a 1.2V to 37V output range. They are exceptionally easy to use and require only two external resistors to set the output voltage. Further, both line and load regulation are better than standard fixed regulators. Also, the LM117 is packaged in standard transistor packages which are easily mounted and handled.
