Description
TinySwitch-II integrates a 700 V power MOSFET, oscillator, high voltage switched current source, current limit and thermal shutdown circuitry onto a monolithic device. The start-up and operating power are derived directly from the voltage on the DRAIN pin, eliminating the need for a bias winding and associated circuitry. In addition, the TinySwitch-II devices incorporate auto-restart, line under-voltage sense, and frequency jittering.
An innovative design minimizes audio frequency components in the simple ON/OFF control scheme to practically eliminate audible noise with standard taped/varnished transformer construction. The fully integrated auto-restart circuit safely limits output power during fault conditions such as output short circuit or open loop, reducing component count and secondary feedback circuitry cost. An optional line sense resistor externally programs a line under-voltage threshold, which eliminates power down glitches caused by the slow discharge of input storage capacitors present in applications such as standby supplies. The operating frequency of 132 kHz is jittered to significantly reduce both the quasi-peak and average EMI, minimizing filtering cost.

The CS5460 is a highly integrated ΔΣ Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) which combines two ΔΣ ADCs, high speed power calculation functions, and a serial interface on a single chip.
It is designed to accurately measure and calculate: Energy, Instantaneous Power, IRMS, and
VRMS for single phase 2 or 3-wire power meter applications.
The CS5460 interfaces to a low cost shunt or transformer to measure current, and resistive divider or transformer to measure voltage.
The CS5460 features a bi-directional serial interface for communication with a micro-controller and a fixed-width programmable frequency output that is proportional to energy.
The product is initialized and fully functional upon power-up, and includes facilities for system-level calibration under control of the user program.

It is designed to accurately measure and calculate: Real (True) Energy, Instantaneous Power, IRMS, and VRMS for single phase 2- or 3-wire power metering applications.
The CS5460A interfaces to a low-cost shunt resistor or transformer to measure current, and to a resistive divider or potential transformer to measure voltage.
The CS5460A features a bi*directional serial interface for communication with a micro-controller and a pulse output engine for which the average pulse frequency is proportional to the real power.
The CS5460A has on-chip functionality to facilitate AC or DC system-level calibration.
The “Auto-Boot” feature allows the CS5460A to function ‘stand-alone’ and to initialize itself on system power-up.
In Auto-Boot Mode, the CS5460A reads the calibration data and start-up instructions from an external EEPROM.
In this mode, the CS5460A can operate without a microcontroller, in order to lower the total bill-of-materials cost.
