General Description
The IXDN402/IXDI402/IXDF402 consists of two 2 Amp CMOS high speed MOSFET drivers. Each output can source and sink 2A of peak current while producing voltage rise and fall times of less than 15ns to drive the latest IXYS MOSFETs & IGBTs. The input of the driver is TTL or CMOS compatible and is fully immune to latch up over the entire operating range. A patent-pending circuit virtually eliminates cross conduction and current shoot-through. Improved speed and drive capabilities are further enhanced by very low and matched rise and fall times.
The IXDN402 is configured as a dual non-inverting gate driver, the IXDI402 as a dual inverting gate driver, and the IXDF402 as a dual inverting + non-inverting gate driver.

Two New LED Drivers from National’s PowerWise Energy-Efficient Product Family Feature Constant Current, Low Feedback Voltage

LEDs 2007, SAN DIEGO, Calif. – October 22, 2007 -
National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) today added two new light-emitting diode (LED) drivers to its PowerWise® energy-efficient product family.  National’s LM3401 and LM3405A LED drivers power 1W to 5W, high-brightness LEDs found in industrial and automotive applications as well as general illumination applications such as solid state and signage.  Each offers a wide input voltage range and provides a constant current to regulate the LED brightness and low feedback voltage to minimize power dissipation.

Featuring a voltage range from 4.5V to 35V, National’s high-efficient LM3401 LED driver includes a scalable current drive of greater than 3A and a 100 percent duty cycle.  A low feedback voltage of 0.2V and accuracy within 3 percent provides a constant current to provide constant color output from an LED. 

The LM3405A LED driver features a voltage range from 3V to 22V and is able to regulate from a loosely coupled 12V AC rail found in industrial and commercial lighting applications.  The small SOT-23 package allows LEDs to be placed into small-form factor light bulbs to offer higher efficiency versus the traditional halogen and incandescent sources for illumination.

National’s two new LED drivers will be shown in National’s booth #26 at the LEDs 2007 conference in San Diego from Oct. 24 to 27.
 
Technical Features of the LM3401 LED Driver
The LM3401 is a high-efficiency hysteretic PFET switching controller that provides a high-performance, constant current drive to a string of LEDs resulting in a constant color output.  An adjustable hysteretic window allows for flexibility in component selection and overall design simplicity.  No external compensation is required.  The regulated LED current is sensed and is compared to the reduced feedback of 0.2V for current sensing which eliminates the need for an output capacitor.  Offered in an 8-pin mini SOIC package, the LM3401 has programmable over current voltage protection and a DIM input pin for PWM inputs to control dimming.  For more information on the LM3401 or to order samples and an evaluation board, visit http://www.national.com/pf/LM/LM3401.html

Technical Features of the LM3405A LED Driver
The new LM3405A extends the voltage range of National’s previously announced LM3405 up to 22V.  Offered in a tiny 6-pin SOT-23 package, the LM3405A constant-current buck regulator delivers up to 1A of current to drive 3W or 5W LEDs.  With a 0.2V reference voltage for constant-current feedback control, internal compensation and a fixed 1.6 MHz switching frequency, the LM3405A provides a simple, highly-efficient solution for driving LEDs.  The LM3405A also includes an EN/DIM pin for pulse-width-modulation (PWM) dimming.  The LM3405A drives general illumination for industrial and commercial lighting applications from the 12V AC and 12V DC rail.

Sony developed the CXA2680ER as a dedicated laser driver IC that increases the number of channels to five to support increased bit depth recording strategies. The CXA2680ER also adds a DVD modulator amplitude switching function to the CXA2640ER for use in dual drive systems and features high linear velocity to follow the actuators used in conventional CD-R/RW drives.

Achieving both Higher
Output and Higher Speed While both an increased output transient waveform speed and an increased maximum output drive current are required to achieve increased linear velocities,
increasing the maximum output drive current required increasing the size of the output transistors. However, increasing the size of the output transistors leads to delays in the output transient waveform.
Despite this tradeoff relationship, the CXA2680ER achieves both of the following output current performance levels.
• CD system total maximum drive current: 370 mA (figure 1) (VCC = 5 V, VOP = 2.5 V, T = 150 °C)
• DVD system total maximum drive current: 320 mA (figure 2) (VCC = 5 V, VOP = 3 V, T = 150 °C)
Thus this device can supply the required maximum output drive current even under severe operating conditions for both CD and DVD. Furthermore, in the CXA2680ER, Sony optimized the output transient waveforms to have both higher speed and a minimal amount of overshoot
by including a built-in waveform shaping circuit. This allows this device to support ×8-speed DVD recording.

Recommended for high-side switching applications that benefit from separate logic and load grounds, these devices encompass load supply voltages to 50 V and output currents to -500 mA. These 8-channel source drivers are useful for interfacing between low-level logic and high-current loads. Typical loads include relays, solenoids, lamps, stepper and/or servo motors, print hammers, and LEDs.
All devices may be used with 5 V logic systems — TTL, Schottky TTL, DTL, and 5 V CMOS. The UDN2981A, UDN2982A, and A2982SLW are electrically interchangeable, will withstand a maximum output off voltage of 50 V, and operate to a minimum of 5 V. All devices in this series integrate input current limiting resistors and output transient suppression diodes, and are activated by an active high input.
The suffix ‘A’ (all devices) indicates an 18-lead plastic dual in-line package with copper lead frame for optimum power dissipation. Under normal operating conditions, these devices will sustain 120 mA continuously for each of the eight outputs at an ambient temperature of +50°C and a supply of 15 V. The suffix ‘LW’ (UDN2982LW only) indicates an 18-lead surfacemountable wide-body SOIC package; the A2982SLW is provided in a 20-lead wide-body SOIC package with improved thermal characteristics. The UDN2982A, UDN2982LW, and A2982SLW drivers are also available for operation over an extended temperature range to -40°C. To order, change the prefix ‘UDN’ to ‘UDQ’ or the suffix ‘SLW’ to ‘ELW’. These packages are available in Pb (lead) free variants (suffix ‘-T’), with 100% matte-tin leadframe plating.

Descriptiont
The GD75232 combines three drivers and five receivers from TIE trade-standard SN75188 and SN75189 bipolar quadruple drivers and receivers, respectively. The pinout matches the flow-through design of the SN75C185 to decrease the part count, reduce the board space required, and allow easy interconnection of the UART and serial-port connector of an IBME PC/ATE and compatibles. The bipolar circuits and processing of the GD75232 provide a rugged, low-cost solution for this function at the expense of quiescent power and external passive components relative to the SN75C185. The GD75232 complies with the requirements of the TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU (formerly CCITT) V.28 standards. These standards are for data interchange between a host computer and a peripheral at signaling rates up to 20 kbit/s. The switching speeds of the GD75232 are fast enough to support rates up to 120 kbit/s with lower capacitive loads (shorter cables). Interoperability at the higher signaling rates cannot be expected unless the designer has design control of the cable and the interface circuits at both ends. For interoperability at signaling rates up to 120 kbit/s, use of ANSI TIA/EIA-423-B (ITU V.10) and TIA/EIA-422-B (ITU V.11) standards is recommended. The GD75232 is characterized for operation over the temperature range of 0°C to 70°C.

General Description
The TC4467/TC4468/TC4469 devices are a family of four-output CMOS buffers/MOSFET drivers with 1.2 A peak drive capability. Unlike other MOSFET drivers, these devices have two inputs for each output. The inputs are configured as logic gates: NAND (TC4467), AND (TC4468) and AND/INV (TC4469). The TC4467/TC4468/TC4469 drivers can continuously source up to 250 mA into ground referenced loads. These devices are ideal for direct driving low current motors or driving MOSFETs in a H-bridge configuration for higher current motor drive (see Section 5.0 for
details). Having the logic gates onboard the driver can help to reduce component count in many designs. The TC4467/TC4468/TC4469 devices are very robust and highly latch-up resistant. They can tolerate up to 5 V of noise spiking on the ground line and can handle up to 0.5 A of reverse current on the driver outputs. The TC4467/4468/4469 devices are available in commercial, industrial and military temperature ranges.
