DESCRIPTION
The REG104 is a family of low-noise, low-dropout linear regulators with low ground pin current. Its new DMOS topology provides significant improvement over previous designs, including low dropout voltage (only 230mV typ at full load), and better transient performance. In addition, no output capacitor is required for stability, unlike conventional low dropout regulators that are difficult to compensate and require expensive low ESR capacitors greater than 1μF.
Typical ground pin current is only 1.7mA (at IOUT = 1A) and drops to 0.5μA in not enabled mode. Unlike regulators with PNP pass devices, quiescent current remains relatively constant over load variations and under dropout conditions.
The REG104 has very low output noise (typically 33μVRMS for VOUT = 3.3V with CNR = 0.01μF), making it ideal for use in portable communications equipment. On-chip trimming results in high output voltage accuracy. Accuracy is maintained over temperature, line, and load variations. Key parameters are tested over the specified temperature range (–40°C to +85°C).
The REG104 is well protected—internal circuitry provides a current limit which protects the load from damage. Thermal protection circuitry keeps the chip from being damaged by excessive temperature. The REG104 is available in the DDPAK-5 and the SOT223-5.

The SO-8 version of the REG103 has an ERROR pin that provides a power good flag, indicating the regulator is in regulation. In addition to the SO-8 package, the REG103 is also available in the DDPAK and the SOT223-5.

 Designed for pulse-width modulated (PWM) current control of dc motors, the A3959SB, A3959SLB, and A3959SLP are capable of output currents to ±3 A and operating voltages to 50 V. Internal fixed off-time PWM current-control timing circuitry can be adjusted via control inputs to operate in slow, fast, and mixed current-decay modes.

 PHASE and ENABLE input terminals are provided for use in controlling the speed and direction of a dc motor with externally applied PWM-control signals. Internal synchronous rectification
control circuitry is provided to reduce power dissipation during PWM operation.
Internal circuit protection includes thermal shutdown with hysteresis, undervoltage monitoring of supply and charge pump, and crossover-current protection. Special power-up sequencing is not required.

 The A3959SB/SLB/SLP is a choice of three power packages, a 24-pin plastic DIP with a copper batwing tab (package suffix ‘B’), a 24-lead plastic SOIC with a copper batwing tab (package suffix ‘LB’), and a thin (<1.2 mm) 28-lead plastic TSSOP with an exposed thermal
pad (suffix ‘LP’). In all cases, the power tab is at ground potential and needs no electrical isolation. Each package is available in a leadfree version (100% matte tin leadframe).
